* Support QuestLink in chat frame (thanks for cogumel0 and jhartelt's codes and comment)
Installation Guide
- Exit "World of Warcraft" completely
- Download the mod you want to install
- Make a folder on your desktop called "My Mods"
- Save the .zip/.rar files to this folder.
- If, when you try to download the file, it automatically "opens" it... you need to RIGHT click on the link and "save as..." or "Save Target As".
- Extract the file - commonly known as 'unzipping'
Do this ONE FILE AT A TIME!
- Windows
- Windows XP a built in ZIP extractor. Double click on the file to open it, inside should be the file or folders needed. Copy these outside to the "My Mods" folder.
- WinRAR: Right click the file, select "Extract Here"
- WinZip: You MUST make sure the option to "Use Folder Names" is CHECKED or it will just extract the files and not make the proper folders how the Authors designed
- Mac Users
- StuffitExpander: Double click the archive to extract it to a folder in the current directory.
- Verify your WoW Installation Path
That is where you are running WoW from and THAT is where you need to install your mods.
- Move to the Addon folder
- Open your World of Warcraft folder. (default is C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\)
- Go into the "Interface" folder.
- Go into the "AddOns" folder.
- In a new window, open the "My Mods" folder.
- The "My Mods" folder should have the "Addonname" folder in it.
- Move the "Addonname" folder into the "AddOns" folder
- Start World of Warcraft
- Make sure AddOns are installed
- At the Character Select screen, look in lower left corner for the "addons" button.
- If button is there: make sure all the mods you installed are listed and make sure "load out of date addons" is checked.
- If the button is NOT there: means you did not install the addons properly. Look at the above screenshots. Try repeating the steps or getting someone who knows more about computers than you do to help.
Translations
When you download a mod, please be sure that the mod is compatible with your translation of wow. Some mods only work on the US versions, while some only work on some of the various European versions. These variations are called "Localizations".
TOC Numbers (Out of Date Mods)
When Blizzard patches WoW, they change the Interface number. This means that all mods will be "out of date" unless or until the author releases a new version for that interface. Some people go into the .toc files and update the numbers themselves, but this is STRONGLY advised against as it will cause problems locating possible incompatibilities addons. When you log into WoW after a patch, you DO NOT have to delete your interface directory. All you have to do is simply tell WoW to ignore the interface numbers and load all the mods anyway. All you have to do is, while at the "character select" screen, look in the lower left corner and click on the "addons" button. A window will pop up listing all your installed mods.
If you look in the upper left corner of that window there should be a box that says "Load Out of Date AddOns". You want to CHECK this box. Now simply go into WoW normally and all your mods should load. As of the 1.9 patch, you will have to do this after EVERY patch/update that Blizzard posts! If you encounter any problems with a mod after a patch, please be sure to let the author of the mod know so they can fix it.

Mac Support
WoW addons are not platformed based. As such, they can be used on either Mac or PC. You can extract both .zip and .rar files on a Mac using StuffitExpander.

redblade1530 saidHey I like this addon and have been using it awhile--it was interfering with making quests clickable in chat awhile back and I used the modified one (Fastquest Classic with questlink from 2.4). Lately however it seems to be doing it again. Possibly due to the most recent patch. Any chance in a simple update on this?

arith saidEncounter problem?
Hey, I just have a short run to test the quest notification function, and seems everything is fine. Though I did not test in many different condition.
If you encounter any error, please try to disable all the other addons and only enable FastQuest, and then see if problem is still there.
Many of the problem may due to the same functionality's addons conflict. Like some of your addon also have question enhancement and this will result in problems.
You got to decide whether you want a set of super addons which have lots of functionality, or you want some simple and tiny addons like FastQuest.

arith saidHi guys, thanks for your support for this addon. I am sorry for not updating this addon for months. Due to my day job is too busy, I now seldom play WoW for around a year. If anyone would like to take the job to keep on maintaining FastQuest Classic, I believe those who love this addon will be very glad to see it happens.
Otherwise, I will try to squeeze my time try to fix the major bugs or problems, but I can't guarantee when they will be resolved.

Dajova saidThis addon seems to be exactly like "Bayi's Extended Quest Log" (the one im using), only that the quest log here is the same size as on the normal one, witch is a flaw in my opinion.
This one hasn't been updated for a while, so i guess it's only reasonable, but i wonder witch one that was first with it :)

EVilvonbek saidyup... same here... and weirder only on 1 character on Khadgar and one on Aerie Peak, both different factions and with !Swatter giving me no LOD or startup error for it.
i use cartog, fubar, mobmap and lightheaded. when i take FQ off the error goes; with it on i get both the green dot ( tracker anchor ) + no text ( will move and reset, but will not lock / unlock ), and also when i pull up the quest log with either lightheaded enabled or disabled the quest shows ok but the quest list window is blank with a single grey line in it. MobMap linkage for the log still works at this point as does lightheaded notes.
if i take FQ back off the log works fine again.
also in case it was a config problem i tried the /fq options command which would bring up the graphic UI; with both chars this does nothins, not even enter as a command string to the server, whereas the oyther commands ( like /fq autonotify still work ).
will try the wiping my .lua files, and fresh install of current update in case it's corrrupted somehow.... but just in case do you have any idea why it's doing this?
before folk worry... i'll state this is happenning on 2 of my characters out of 17; and is working fine on 15 other characters. also a friend using pretty much the same setup and the 5 main addons mentioned is having no probs at all.

Urbin saidHi Arith
Thanks for keeping FastQuest up to date, I've been using it for ever and a day. However, since the latest version, it seems to be broken. I can drag the green dot around, but the text with the quest tracker lines remains fixed just below the minimap. If I try to bring up the menu with /fq options I get an error message (sorry, I can't quote it right now as I don't have access to the game).

Jesamyn saidFollowing up to his comment with the errors that I'm getting:
There are more, but I figured I would stop there for now. And yes, I am aware that some of those mention other mods. However, they're addons that I don't get eithout the beta version of FQ loaded. :)

V0iD saidNice Add On, been using it for aslong as I remember, I have a slight problem now though... I have updated all my add on's, this being one of them, but now the list of quests I am showing (the one with the green draggable dot) has vanished, I have tried resetting it's location (I believe that /reset does this?) but it's still not visible anywhere. I've tried all sorts, including changing the graphics resolution incase it is out of the screen, but it's not there either. Ive checked in places where small green dots could hide, right at the edge of the screen, behind UI bits etc etc, but I can still fail to find it :(
Can anyone help ?
TIA ^VoiD

arith saidAs far as I know, CT_Core is not compatible with FastQuest, due to CT_Core will manipulate quest tracker frame. But the problem used to be the frame will be not dragable.
Another way you may try is to delete the setting file which located under WTF\Account\[YOUR ACCOUNT]\SaveVariables\FastQuest_Classic.lua
Might help.

cogumel0 said@ redblade1530: I feel exactly the same way, so I made some very quick changes to it and uploaded the changed version so now you CAN link quests to the chat using Blizzard's funtion from patch 2.4.
Here's the link: http://www.curse.com/downloads/details/12284/
ALL CREDIT GOES TO arith.
I just hope soon he'll implement those changes himself on this one.
